Industrial Revolution and Lean Production from Yesterday to Today<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Renaissance, which began to be felt in the 15th century, opened the door to a period whose influence continues until today, and blew the whistle of revolutions that left a mark on human history. As a result of the increase in geographical discoveries, the decrease in the trust in the church and the clergy, the increase in the interest in science, and the spread of the printing press throughout Europe, the Renaissance period began its journey starting from Italy, making its wind felt on the whole European map. <\/p>\n

Societies: It has passed through a labyrinth that connects the Renaissance Period to the Reform movements and the Reform movements to the Age of Enlightenment. The industrial revolution has been what awaits countries and peoples at the end of this labyrinth. <\/p>\n

The Industrial Revolution, which started in England between 1760 and 1830, after 1850 included other Western European countries as well as North America and Russia, and later Japan, became the leading actor of the 18th and 19th centuries. Agriculture played a major role in the first stage of the industrialization process. Industrialization first took place in agriculture and then had its effects in other fields. <\/p>\n

Throughout history, people have tried thousands of ways to make their lives easier and meaningful. The Industrial Revolution was one of the most needed and exhausting marathons of these trials. There have been 4 industrial revolutions since the 18th century and the difference between the countries involved in this transformation and the countries that cannot industrialize has widened day by day. <\/p>\n

The First Industrial Revolution \u2013 Industry 1.0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first industrial period in history started with the discovery of steam technology. In 1712, the steam engine was invented, and thanks to this machine, capital accumulation increased by processing the raw materials that came to Europe after colonial activities. Industrialization has brought many transformations with it, and the process of factorization has begun while building new buildings that will fit the huge machines produced. With the factorization, the working class who will work here started to migrate from the villages to the cities, while the countries got stronger economically over time, progress in the fields such as military and education started. <\/p>\n

While the 18th century was the age of meeting with steam powered locomotives and trains, as a result of the development of mechanization and industrialization, societies began to rise like a sun that gradually began to show itself behind the mountains. The construction of railways, the increase in iron and steel production, and the increase in the number of machinery used in manufacturing have also gone down in history as the most positive developments of this period. <\/p>\n

Second Industrial Revolution \u2013 Industry 2.0<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the first industrial revolution, production mechanized and technology started to advance rapidly. In this period between 1840 and 1870, steam engines started to be replaced by products operating with electricity, oil and natural gas, and in this period, which will be referred to as the \u201cTechnology Revolution\u201d much later; Transportation has been facilitated, raw materials are easily procured, and the products produced are transferred to distant markets. <\/p>\n

This period is also known as mass production period. Henry Martin Ford appeared on the stage of history in the second industrial revolution, when cars only accessible to the upper class emerged. Henry Ford, together with 11 investors, founded the Ford Motor Company with a capital of $ 28,000 in 1903, and he did not even guess what kind of pioneering movement he would be the hero. <\/p>\n

Henry Ford, from the moment he founded his company, started to produce automobiles with a serial line that produced serially and formed the basic building block of the production known as Industry 2.0 today. Thanks to this mass production line, a system has been established in which parts are exchanged between machines, and production has been accelerated. Thus, the world met with mass production and the leading actors of the heavy industry sector changed. The world\u2019s leading producers are now the UK, Germany, USA and Japan. <\/p>\n

Third Industrial Revolution \u2013 Industry 3.0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The third industrial revolution started shortly after the end of the second world war. It has been a difficult determination to experience such a revolution just a few years after such a great front war, in which a significant percentage of the world population was lost and its impact was felt differently all over Europe. Perhaps, as people lost their subconscious, the infrastructure of mechanization began to form. <\/p>\n

In this period, the limits of imagination were exceeded, developments that could not be imagined only a while ago began to occur, and with the Industry 3.0 revolution, electronic devices were included in production. After the first microcomputer was introduced in 1971, when the calendar showed 1976, Steve Jobs introduced Apple I, one of the first personal computers, with other founder Steve Wozniak. <\/p>\n

In the third industrial revolution, machines began to replace manpower, and manufacturing automation advanced. With the development of information technologies, production has been automated, and the PLC system has gradually begun to make a name for itself. With PLC, machines in factories have started to work under computer control, and production has started to be more rapid and efficient thanks to computers programmed in different ways. <\/p>\n

Another development that defines this period is related to lean production. The foundations of lean manufacturing, one of the developments that made the biggest difference among the industrial revolutions, were laid in the third industrial revolution. Lean production based on zero defect, zero stock and flexible production has constituted the turning point of industrial civilization. This period has succeeded in being the harbinger of the fourth industrial revolution and formed the title of an article describing what awaits us in the future of industrial transformation. This title alone is enough to explain that nothing will be the same after Industry 4.0, that is, the fourth industrial revolution. <\/p>\n

The Fourth Industrial Revolution \u2013 Industry 4.0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Internet has been a miraculous invention that helped us leave an era behind and start a new one in the industry as in every field. With the digitalization of production, the introduction of smart factories, the realization of efficient business models, the technological transformation that we can apply lean production has started and the missing part of the industrial revolution has finally found its place. <\/p>\n

Industry 4.0, which was first brought to the agenda by Germany, showed that the traditional industry needed a new outfit in the informatics process, and with the inclusion of machines that surpass the speed of small craftsmen, machines based on digital technology have spread the use of micro-electronic techniques. With Industry 4.0, the concepts of cloud computing and artificial intelligence came to the fore, the communication of the machines with each other increased while the human factor was minimized, the data was started to be processed in real time, and smart systems took over the production. <\/p>\n

With the introduction of artificial intelligence on the industrial stage, 3D technology, cloud computing, augmented reality and the analysis of big data made the target audience much easier and the production was realized in the light of this map. The thought of \u201cThe customer has to buy what we provide, we sell what we offer\u201d, which exists in the service sector, has eroded and the \u201cLean Production\u201d model, which is designed to meet the needs and expectations of the customer, has increased its asset power. <\/p>\n

Lean production, which was first applied by Toyota in the world, puts the concepts of \u201cvalue\u201d and \u201cwaste\u201d in the centre on the basis of lean thinking. The system, which eliminates waste at every stage of the production process starting from the raw material and aims to create excellent value for the customer, has created a value stream. In the lean production system, which destroys all activities that do not add value to production, every stage from the production to the delivery of the product has gained value in itself and waste is completely prevented. <\/p>\n

With this model, productivity has reached the highest flow in its history, and since the effect of global competition has begun to be felt in all markets, every enterprise or institution that cannot be renewed or transformed is doomed to disappear.<\/p>\n
